For more than fifty-five years Palmetto State Quartet has
held a high standard of traditional Southern Gospel Quartet Style.
Throughout the years great talented vocalists and musicians have passed
through their ranks creating a rich heritage. Men such as founder; Paul
Burroughs, Jamie Dill, Jack Bagwell, Jack Pittman, Claude Hunter, Ken
Turner, Eddie Broome, Joel Duncan and Hovie Lister. Today the quartet
consists of Brion Carter, singing the tenor; Kerry Beatty, lead singer; Tony
Peace, singing baritone; and Jeff Pearles, singing bass; Andrew Ishee, on
the keyboard.
Every member of the Palmetto State Quartet are born again Christians and
know the Lord Jesus Christ that they sing about. They appear annually at the
National Quartet Convention held in Louisville, KY The Great Western Quartet
Convention in Sacramento, Dollywood, Branson, to name a few. In the past few
years they have had many nominations as one of the top male quartets in
gospel music today. Most recently they were nominated by the Southern Gospel
Music Association as one of the top five male quartets for the year 2000 and
again in 2001. Their hit song "Good Morning", written by Brion Carter, added
to their list of achievements. Not only finishing in the top 40 songs of the
year, but also was nominated for song of the year by the Singing News Fan
Awards. They are consistently placing great songs on the "Top 40" charts all
over the radio waves. While maintaining their roots of traditional quartet
singing, the Quartet continues to reach new heights by touching numerous
styles and progressive fresh ideas that give their program rich variety. The
